CHRISTMAS TREE FOR YOUR SEWING ROOM

I need to get back on my blogging more often.  Decided the remainder of this week will highlight some Christmas items in my home with crafting tips.
Here you will see the 2 1/2 ft. table top tree in my studio. I have it on top of a cabinet athe end of my long wood sewing table.  The tree skirt is an adorable quilted table mat with applique spools "Spoolin Around"  by KansasTroubles Quilters.
I will probably add more ornaments as some idea catches my fancy. So far I put a couple vintage tape measures, then clipped some antique wooden straight clothespins to some branches.
Next, an idea with used patterns and styrofoam eggs came to mind. So.....for the eggs simply get whatever size styrofoam egg you want.  Add a nice layer of Modge Podge. Then begin layering strips of vintage patterns in crisscross fashion.  Set the egg on a plastic drying rack that Folkart painters use.  This has the tiny nubs all over. Holds the item up.
The next day do again. You can add however many layers you want. After this was totally dry I made a hole in top, squirted some glue into this area and put loop made with ribbon.

The hang tags were made using some flavored tea dyed tags. After drying I cut out of my quilt magazines tiny pictures of quilts.  Glue to tag. Stencil whatever quilting or sewing term on the tag. I used black ink.  When all done sprinkle lightly with glass glitter.
Enjoy !

WHITE PUMPKINS

My white pumpkins. I created these with various textures and shades of white fabrics, including a velvet. The stem is made of a pale green brocade. The vines are made using a green eyelash yarn.

SUNFLOWER QUILT

I can hardly believe this is truly the end of Summer !  Gracious where did it go too?  I have been so negligent in posting on my blog. Perhaps, my energy will be revived to begin posting often once more.
Here is a photo of my August / September Sunflower Wall Quilt for our family room.  It is approx. 51" square.  It is so much fun to create seasonal wall quilts for this space in our home.  This is my design. From top of my head. No pattern.

VALENTINES DAY IS COMING

Need to get post listed on a regular basis, but that is sort of hard when time just flies by and doesn't remind me !
I am posting a picture of a new wall quilt for my family room. I have a spot on one wall with a continuing rotation of wall quilts. Each wall quilt is approx. 51" X'51".

Then I just finished a Valentine Angel with real vintage quilt wings and an Osanberg apron with valentine appliques. She will be for sale on my Etsy shop.

Enjoy!

HAPPY HARVEST TIME !

I absolutely love this time of year! While living away from Indiana I always traveled back home for a visit during the month of October.
Since moving back, and through my friend at church, there is another reason why I love October....QUILT RETREAT !! Yahooooooo
You will see to the left many photos that I took while on my recent Quilt Retreat at Camp Mack which is in North Central Indiana.
We have a ball...us ladies laughingly say "we sew alot, talk alot, eat wonderful food and sleep very little.
Many bring UFO's which is Unfinished Objects along with at least three projects to chose from.
You go away with new ideas and tips on bettering your quilting craft.
I only started quilting about 3 1/2 yrs ago, although I have always admired it often. Remember, I have been sewing (or attempting to) by the age of 5. Was taught by my beautiful spirited Grandma that raised me.
It was always a treasure to me to be able to pull out her big muslin bag full of fabric scraps and imagine and then create. Little by little she began to allow me privledges of using her tools and sewing machine.
Enjoy the photos. Should have taken more. We have a Show N Tell Night where the ladies show off a project she has worked on or completed the past year....and let me tell you...they were awesome.
It humbles one such as I.
The one photo is of the back west side of lodge...I neglected to get one of the front that was decorated with pumpkins and cornstalks.
